Acne facials, peels and cystic acne injections in Orange County

For active acne, Neoderma in Anaheim pairs a medical-grade home regimen, which does most of the work, with in-office treatment: the $225 Anti-Acne Facial, the DiamondGlow facial, the Vi Peel for facial and back acne, and LED therapy. Cystic acne is treated with Kenalog injections, from $100.

Which facials are used for acne?

Two facials on Neoderma's menu are used for acne. The Anti-Acne Facial ($225) is the one Neoderma names for acne, built for congested, breakout-prone skin: extractions to unclog pores, a calming clay mask with tea tree to help reduce oil, and a finish under blue-light LED, which targets the bacteria behind breakouts.

DiamondGlow ($215) is Neoderma's medical-grade facial with a diamond tip: in one pass it exfoliates, pulls out congestion and infuses clarifying, hydrating serums. Neoderma's team looks at your skin before choosing, so you get the treatment it needs rather than the one you happened to book.

What happens during an acne facial?

The Anti-Acne Facial follows the logic of a breakout: a pore blocked by oil, bacteria and dead skin, inflamed around it. Each step answers one part of that.

Clear the congestion

Your skin is deep-cleaned and the blocked pores are extracted, which is where the facial's “clarifying” work happens.

Calm the skin

A clay mask with tea tree goes on next, to help reduce oil and settle the skin after extractions.

Finish with blue light

The session ends under the LED mask. Blue light kills the bacteria responsible for acne, and it also calms inflammation.

Extractions can leave a mild flush. Neoderma's guidance for events is to book a facial one to three days ahead, by which point that flush has faded.

Is a Vi Peel good for acne, including back acne?

Neoderma uses the Vi Peel for acne, on the face and on the back. The Vi Peel is a medical-grade chemical peel, and its Purify tier ($375) is formulated for acne-prone and oily skin: on top of the Vi Peel base, it adds salicylic acid and benzethonium chloride, aimed at active breakouts, excess oil and inflammation. On the face, a Vi Peel takes about 20 minutes, and you can expect roughly a week of light peeling afterward, so it needs at least two weeks before any event.

For back acne, Neoderma doesn't publish a separate price, so ask for it with your estimate. Whatever the area, freshly peeled skin is sensitive to the sun, and sun on it is a leading cause of the very discoloration people peel to fix, so daily SPF 30 or higher is part of the treatment.

Does LED light therapy help acne?

Neoderma's LED therapy uses a mask with two kinds of light. Red light stimulates the cells that make collagen. Blue light kills the bacteria responsible for acne, which is why it is the last step of the Anti-Acne Facial.

Outside that facial, LED therapy comes as a finishing step after other treatments, including each Secret RF session for scars, or as a $50–$75 add-on to any facial. Neoderma doesn't list it as a standalone session.

How does Neoderma treat cystic acne?

With Kenalog injections. Kenalog is a cortisone, injected straight into an inflamed cyst during a quick office visit, and it settles the inflammation and shrinks the cyst flat, often within 24 to 48 hours. Injections start at $100. Neoderma's skin-care page calls this the emergency pimple shot, for the big, painful cyst that shows up before a big day.

Speed matters for your skin, not just your plans. The less time a cyst stays inflamed, the less collagen it destroys, so calming it quickly also lowers the chance it leaves a scar. How many injections your skin needs is worked out at the consultation.

What should I use at home between visits?

A medical-grade regimen matched to your skin, and at Neoderma it does most of the work on breakouts. Your routine is chosen after a 3D skin analysis, from SkinBetter Science, the line Neoderma prefers, or ZO Skin Health, which it also offers for acne. Medical-grade skin care for acne covers how the regimen is built, which products Neoderma features and where to buy each line.

How do these treatments work together?

Through combination therapy: most acne plans at Neoderma use more than one treatment. In-office treatments reset the skin, and the daily regimen keeps building on them between visits, so the two are planned together. LED therapy can finish a facial or a stronger treatment. Which combination fits your skin is decided with your provider at the consultation, and combination therapy at Neoderma covers how scar treatments pair up too.

When should acne scars be treated?

After the breakouts have settled. Neoderma treats active acne first, because each new inflamed spot can leave a fresh mark or scar, and then moves on to the scars. Why scar treatment waits for active acne explains the reasoning.

If what's left after a breakout is flat and red or brown, it's probably a mark rather than a scar, and it's handled differently. Start with red marks and dark spots from acne.

Acne facial questions

Can I get a facial right before an event?

Yes. Neoderma's event-timing guide puts a facial one to three days before the day, when any mild flush from extractions has faded. A Vi Peel needs at least two weeks, and nothing that peels or reddens belongs in the final week.

Do I need a consultation before buying skin care?

It is the recommended way to start: Neoderma's team uses your 3D skin analysis to build a regimen of cleanser, actives and sun protection matched to your skin. The consultation is $50, credited toward treatment if you proceed within two weeks of the consultation.
